چکیده

In a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System, collision between tags is one of the core problems that we must consider about. In general, a collision will occur when more than one tag communicates with the reader simultaneously, reducing the system efficiency. To solve this, dynamic frame slotted ALOHA (DFSA) is widely adopted nowadays, and as a variant of DFSA algorithm, Q-algorithm is accepted by the EPCglobal specifications for RFID air interface Class1 Gen2 protocol. Based on this, we provide a new algorithm called EPP-Q to adjust the parameter Q more accurate as well as maintain high system efficiency when tags are no more than 21(Q belongs to 0 to 15). The simulation provides an obvious improvement when EPP-Q is compared with other two mainstream algorithms, not only in system efficiency, but also in the quantity of time slots used.

Algorithm for Deriving Optimal Frame Size in Passive RFID UHF Class1-Gen2 Standard Using Combinatorial Model Boundaries

MAC level efficiency constraints of the RFID Reader-Tag communication require proper frame size selection in order to achieve maximum throughput. To set optimal frame size, one needs to estimate the number of tags. Deriving optimal frame size results in reducing time for identification of large RFID tag populations, and thus increases throughput of RFID system. In accordance with the standard D...

An Enhanced Dynamic Framed Slotted ALOHA Anti-collision Algorithm

In RFID system, one of the problems that we must solve is the collision between tags that may occur when a reader attempts to read a number of tags simultaneously. Most of the popular anti-collision algorithms are based on the ALOHA-type algorithm, which are simple and show good performance when the number of tags to read is small. However, for ALOHA-type algorithms the time required to read th...

A Time - Optimal Anti - collision Algorithm for FSA - Based RFID Systems

© 2011 ETRI Journal, Volume 33, Number 3, June 2011 With the introduction of the new generation RFID technology, EPCglobal Class-1 Generation-2, there is considerable interest in improving the performance of the framed slotted Aloha (FSA)-based tag collision arbitration protocol. We suggest a novel time-optimal anti-collision algorithm for the FSA protocol. Our performance evaluation demonstrat...

A Frame Size Adjustment with Sub-Frame Observation for Dynamic Framed Slotted Aloha

In this paper, a simple frame size adjustment of dynamic framed slotted Aloha for tag identification in RFID networks is proposed. In dynamic framed slotted Aloha, the reader is required to announce the frame size for every frame. To achieve maximum system efficiency, it is essential to set the frame size according to the number unidentified tags appropriately. The proposed approach utilizes th...
